“Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand up right.” Psalm 20:6-8 (ESV)
No engineer can design a rollercoaster with adrenaline rush of high climbs, crazy twists, or sudden drops to match the mental rollercoasters I’ve rode.
Questions without answers.
Phone calls I dreaded answering.
Emails I procrastinate sending.
Letters I hesitate to open.
The tingling in my arm from a panic attack when I keep replaying a situation over and over again in my head.
Uncertainty raising my anxiety.
What is happening? Life is exposing my source of trust. And when that source cannot uphold me, I collapse and fall. Jobs, finances, health, marriage, children, education, etc. were never intended to bear the weight of my security. And their lack of ability to keep me when I need them makes suffering worse.
But all my activities made me think I was trusting God.
Attend church? Check.
Read my bible? Check.
Follow bible study teachers and preachers on social media? Check.
Listen to gospel music? Check.
Trusting in the name of the Lord is not based on my activities.
Trusting in the name of the Lord is in the remembering and intentionally pondering his nature, reputation, and character.
In Psalm 20:1-5 the people are praying for the king that God would answer the king’s prayers and send help for the day of trouble. They knew the character of God and trusted him to deliver the king.
Then the psalm shifts from the people to King David himself. There is no denying who David trusted. David used chariots and horses in battle, but he trusted God!
“Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand.”
This knowing is not head knowledge but a deep, unshakable heart conviction. We need to know beyond a shadow of a doubt no matter what situation in life, God will save us. We are confident when we pray God hears us.
I do not have to know the outcome. I only need to trust God with the outcome.
I need to know the one I turn to can save me. We always turn to something or someone in times of uncertainty or struggle. And our strength will expose who or what we have trusted.
The storms are coming. The battles are coming. But when we put our trust in God, we will rise and stand firm.
So what can we choose to remember and put on replay in our minds?
God sees all and knows all.
God is all powerful.
God is a healer.
God is a deliverer.
God never gets tired.
God hears me when I pray.
God will never abandon me.
God will give me wisdom if I ask.
God will strengthen me when I am weak.
God’s love for me is proven at the cross.
May all our activities help us continue to trust in the name of the Lord.

Amen and Amen! It’s so easy to get wrapped up in our trials and lose sight of God’s infinite power to save, protect, heal and deliver. ❤️
